ACoP8 Call for Programming

The International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP) invites members to submit proposals for symposia or tutorial sessions to be presented at the Marriott Resort: Harbor Beach Hotel, Fort Lauderdale, October 15-18, 2017. The opportunity to contribute to the content of the meeting is available only to ISoP members. We encourage proposals around the example themes listed below. Proposals within other areas are also highly welcome.

Suggested Example Themes:

1. Pharmacometric applications and advances in specific therapeutic areas/ indications/ populations
2. Systems pharmacology approaches and applications e.g. Advancing drug safety science
3. Meta-Analysis
4. Clinical trial simulation innovations
5. Identifiability and sensitivity analysis in QSP
6. Collaboration efforts between Pharmacometrics and Statistics community e.g. Integration of Pmx and Stats approaches in solving complex drug development issues.
7. PBPK approaches for small and large molecules
8. Big data: from systems pharmacology to patient outcomes
9. Methodology

Based on your encouraging feedback from ACoP7 we plan to continue to have a few sessions that will include short abstract presentations selected from the abstracts submitted for poster presentations and related to the session theme. Session chairs will have the opportunity to review the accepted abstract(s) and select those, if any, that would best fit the theme of their session. Please indicate when submitting your proposal if you would be interested to include such abstract presentations as a part of your session if the proposal is selected.

Programming Descriptions 





Large, broad topics with wide appeal suitable for lecture format

Topic may be broad or narrow, but be generalizable to most attendees. Must allow participants to gain new knowledge or skills.


Lectures with time for audience questions

Workshop and/or lecture format. Hands on or problem based learning.


One to three sessions concurrently

Two to three per meeting, prior to or at the end of the meeting


Three to four to offer various views on the topic.

**For each session, ACOP  will provide overhead projection with screen(s),  a podium with microphone, laser pointer, and head table for the chairs and speakers. Session chair is responsible for bringing a laptop and power strip for presentation. MAC users should bring the MAC-projector connector. Additional audio/visual support may be provided on a case-by-case basis. These needs must be included in the proposal.

Symposium, Roundtable, & Tutorial Session Requirements

Submission Deadline

The submitter is responsible for any edits to their submission and must finalize the submission by January 31, 2017, the submission deadline.

Submission Requirements

To be eligible for review, all symposium, roundtable, and tutorial proposals must include:

1) Session Title

2) Proposed Session Format

3) Chairperson(s)’s name, title, affiliation, contact information, and ISoP membership status

4) Description of the session, including background and scientific importance

5)  Learning objectives

6) Speakers’ names, titles, affiliations, contact information, ISoP membership status, and brief description of proposed presentation

7) Additional AV needs

8) Budget Requirements (if non-member speakers are required)

9) For symposium proposals, indicate if you would be willing to include selected abstract speakers into your session

Review Criteria


All symposium, roundtables, and tutorial proposals will be competitively peer-reviewed against all other proposals by the ACoP Scientific Programming Committee.

The committee will not review proposals that are incomplete, lack sufficient detail or do not adhere to the guidelines. The committee reserves the right to revise session proposals as necessary to achieve the goal of attaining a diverse, well-rounded, educational program for ACoP. Notifications will be sent to all chairs via email during the month of March, 2017. Multiple submissions are permitted. However, in the interest of attaining a diverse, well-rounded, educational program for the Annual Meeting, if more than one proposal is accepted by the programming committee, the chair may be asked to consider naming an alternative or co-chair for him/herself to lead one of the sessions


Session Chair Responsibilities

Chairs must be current, active members of ISoP, with a limit of two co-chairs per session. If your proposal includes co-chairs, both co-chairs must be actively involved. A chair may serve as a speaker. If so, he/she should be identified on the proposed speaker roster.  If a proposal is accepted, the chair(s) is responsible for final confirmation of the speaker roster, communicating session goals and expectations to all speakers, working with ACoP staff to ensure all speaker requirements are met. 

Onsite roles include starting and ending the session on time, speaker introductions, managing presentation times, and coordination of the question and answer portion of the session. Session chair is also responsible for bringing a laptop and power strip for presentation (MAC users should bring the MAC-projector connector). Early arrival of at least 15 min before the session to test run the laptop, projections, and microphones is highly recommended to minimize potential technical difficulties.


The following budget estimates should be considered and included in the proposal when planning for non-member speaker participation:

Airfare: non-refundable, roundtrip, coach airfare of up to $750 for a US based speaker, or up to $1500 for an internationally based speaker

Hotel: two nights lodging at conference hotel

Conference registration: one-day registration fee ($450 value) if attending one day; full registration fee ($1275 value) if attending the full conference

All session proposals requesting financial support for non-member speakers will be required to submit a plan that outlines how the requested budget will be allocated, and if necessary, how additional funding will be secured to cover costs exceeding the budget. It is the responsibility of the Session chairs to secure additional funding to cover cost exceeding the reimbursement budget limits.


Member speakers will receive a $100 discount off registration. Trainee members are not eligible for this additional discount given the already discounted trainee registration fee. ISoP members are not eligible for additional travel or registration reimbursement. ISoP will verify membership status of all chairs and speakers.

Reimbursement budgets must be approved by the Conference chair (Brenda Cirincione) and the Scientific Program chair (Navin Goyal) before communicating with non-member speakers. Upon approval and notification, non-member speakers should contact Enrico Smith ( for registration and reimbursement assistance. Completed reimbursement forms and expense receipts should be submitted within two weeks after ACoP to Enrico Smith for reimbursement.
